Design Remix Challange

Lately I've been inspired to do some redecorating around our home. With the change in season soon I decided what better time than now. I love the fall it's one of my favorite seasons. I love the rich autumn colors of oranges, olive greens and deep purple hues.

We've been in our home for some time and I have the same decor for what seems like ages. So I decided to redo our dinning room area and spruce it up a bit by changing out the old and doing something new. However, this did not come without a challenge. As the title says it was a design REMIX Challenge. That is, I had to use existing pieces that I already had around the house and repurpose into a new design element.

The before. Our dinning room screams boring with a basic design scheme.

I consider my design style to be modern traditional. I like traditional pieces with a modern twist.

My new choice of colors included burnt orange, olive green and chocolate brown.

I added a few new pieces that I had elsewhere in our home.

The newly redecorated buffet. I love the mix of colors and the white ceramic artichoke statement piece.

Overall, I think the rearrangement of items came out nicely.

What do you think? I'd love to hear your feedback.

Date Night with the Hubs

It's rare that the Mr. and I get a chance to step out without the children in tow. But last night we got the opportunity to spend some quality time together and have FUN!

Our date night consisted of wine, food, painting and a whole lot of laughter and fun. We went to a local venue called "Wine & Canvas". We had an opportunity to paint a portrait together and hone our creative skills.

This is how it works. We each initially painted our individual portraits and then they were put together to complete the entire canvas.

Here are a few pics along the way...

Here's the instructor's picture.

Here's my husband starting off with his canvas.

This is mines.

Of course, we had to have a couple's selfie.

Our two pictures together as one. It's coming along nicely.

Our final portrait. Not bad?

I've got the results of our masterpiece all over my hands.

I'd say our Date Night was a success. The Hubs approved!

Afterwards we walked across to a nice Mexican Restaurant and had dinner. Little did we know they had a hostess that was taking pictures. She asked if she could take a few of us for a momentous portrait. Here we are at dinner.

We truly had an AMAZING time! I love spending quality time with my Mr. it's our time to reconnect.

Now for a place to hang our masterpiece?

Top Ten Wardrobe Essentials

As summer comes to a close and fall is upon us I decided to get ready by going through my closet. As the saying goes.... "Out with the old and in with the new". To prepare I decided to see what items I had on hand so I could see what new items were needed (hint: another reason to shop).

Shopping can sometimes be stressful. So I found this checklist on Pinterest to see what basic essentials were needed.

As a seasoned shopper I already owned quite a few if not most of the items on the list. Most of the items are essential elements of a Fashionista. To make things easy I came up with the "10 Essentials Every Girl (Mom) Should Own".

The 10 Essentials Every Girl Should Own

1. Chic Tank
2. Dark Skinny Jeans
3. Knit Cardigan
4. Boots
5. Leggings
6. Cute Scarf
7. Little Black Dress (LBD)
8. Cotton Hoodie (or light weight jacket)
9. Comfy Flats
10. Purse

I'd love to hear what are some of your must-have wardrobe essentials. Leave a line or two in the comments below!
